ACCELERATED LEARNING What is Accelerated Learning? Accelerated Learning is a system for learning and teaching which is based on the work of the Bulgarian scientist Dr. Georgi Lozanov and others in the fields of human brain and educational theory. The basic tenet of Accelerated Learning is that we all possess an infinite potential for learning. This may cause you to ask, "Why does so and so have a problem in learning?" or "Why am I so slow to understand new ideas?" According to Dr. Lozanov we all possess an infinite potential for learning, but we must tap into that potential if we are to learn easily and quickly. Accelerated Learning allows us to tap into that potential and thereby learn easily and quickly. How does Accelerated Learning work? The process of Accelerated Learning engages both the analytical, linear left hemisphere of the brain and the more intuitive, spatially responsive right hemisphere in a relaxed way which results in accelerated and highly motivated learning.
There are three basic elements in Accelerated Learning which I have nicknamed the FIR TREE PRINCIPLE.
These elements are:
FUN or the JOY of
Learning
IMAGINATION (visual,
auditory, kinesthetic)
RELAXATION
(physically relaxed and mentally alert)
These three essential elements are combined and woven into a carefully orchestrated learning environment using drama, art, music, games, imagery, and other effective techniques to create optimal learning.
