·        Computer Languages:

o       BASIC- I have designed and taught courses at BSU in BASIC. The courses which I designed and first taught at BSU are A First Course in Programming and Introduction to Computers. The former is a course in which students are given a course in programming practice and design, the latter is a course in computer literacy in which the computer's impact on society was discussed. I also designed and gave an honors course called The Computer Threat to Society.

o       Pascal- I designed and first taught at BSU a course in Pascal. This course has evolved into our course Introduction to Computer Science. I have also participated in a special topics course in which the students wrote a Pascal compiler. At Evergreen, I taught Pascal programming as part of Data to Information.

o       COBOL- I took a course in COBOL and have written software to support the Center for Urban Research on this campus.

o       FORTRAN- I have written software in FORTRAN to support the work being done at the Hanford Engineering Labs.

o       IBM Assembler -I have written software in and taught courses in this language. One of the software packages I wrote was an emulator and assembler for a fictitious 'simple' computer to introduce students to assembly language at an early stage.

o       C- I have taught a course in which students wrote portions of a Pascal compiler in the C language. I have also taught a course in the UNIX Operating System and the C language. At Evergreen, I taught C programming as a part of Data to Information and as a module during the summer.

o       MUMPS- I have written software to support a medical data base package.

o       While on sabbatical leave at Pacific Lutheran University, I wrote several programs for the Artificial Intelligence course in LISP and Prolog. I have become fairly proficient at these
