SHOPPING LIST FOR KENYA RECIPES
Meat:
2 lbs. tender cut of beef
Dairy:
1 quart of vanilla ice cream (for dessert: optional)
Produce:
10 tamarind pods or 1/2 c. tamarind paste (to taste)
1 whole fresh habanero pepper
1” length fresh ginger, minced
3 large yellow onions, chopped
2 large carrots, cut into chunks
2 underripe

jasmine rice - optional if you're doing coconut rice
Miscellaneous:
2 T sugar, preferably brown
3-1/4 c. flour - optional if you're doing chapati
1 c. vegetable
stock
1 t. cardamom
1 t. cumin
1 t. cinnamon
1/2 t. allspice cayenne or black
pepper
salt
vegetable oil
butter
8 c. coconut milk
1-1/3 lbs. kidney beans
(soaked overnight and rinsed or 4 c. canned beans)
