SHOPPING LIST FOR NAMIBIA RECIPES
Meat:
2 lbs. good quality meaty leg chops, lamb or goat (6 chops or enough for everyone)
Dairy:
1 egg
1/2 c. milk
1 T butter
Produce:
1 medium butternut or other pumpkin with soft yellow flesh, cooked
3 cloves garlic
5 large tomatoes
3 large onions
1 large bunch of fresh spinach or chard
1 small red chili
Miscellaneous:
5 c. sorghum meal (or maize meal, not too finely ground – yellow is
best for this)
3 T flour or maize flour
1 qt. oil for frying (preferably marula nut oil, or odjove)
few pieces of cinnamon to grate, or 2 t. ground cinnamon
1/2 t. coriander
1/2 c. sugar
salt
pepper
Beverages:
beer (a good lager, enough for 6 people)
