SHOPPING LIST FOR BRASÍLIA RECIPES
Dairy:
1-1/2 quarts vanilla ice cream
Produce:
1 whole Japanese squash – round with longitudinal furrows, green skin
with orange spots, yellow-orange flesh
1 beet
2-3 carrots
1 turnip
alfalfa sprouts
1 large bunch of collard greens
1 lime
3 large eggplants
1 large yellow onion
3 cloves of garlic
10 ripe roma tomatoes
12 scallions/green onion/spring onions
1 bunch of flat-leaf parsley
6 papayas
6 apples suitable for baking
Grain:
3 c. short grain brown rice
Miscellaneous:
black pepper
salt
nutmeg
2 c. vegetable stock
soy/tamari sauce
1 bottle of extra-virgin olive oil
3 t. sesame seeds, black or white
2 sheets of Japanese nori seaweed
1 bottle liqueur de cassis (a good one!)
4 T light tahine paste
2 T honey
3/8 t. cinnamon
Beverages:
Cold fresh pineapple juice with mint (liquefied in the blender, then chilled)
Hot ban-cha (toasted green tea) or genmai-cha (toasted rice green tea) after
dinner
