SHOPPING LIST FOR ROMANIAN JEWISH NEW YORK RECIPES

Meat:
1 whole chicken
3-4 lbs. first cut brisket, flat cut

Dairy:
4 eggs

Produce:
2 onions
2 stalks celery
4 carrots, sliced
1 parsnip peeled
1/2 bunch fresh parsley
1/4 bunch fresh dill
1 lb. mushrooms

Grains:
2 c. kasha

Miscellaneous:
6 packets of chicken bouillon (George Washington is the preferred brand)
salt
pepper
10 oz jar of apricot jam
1 package onion soup mix (Lipton’s is preferred)
8 oz bottle of red Russian salad dressing
1 t. dried basil
1 t. dried oregano
1 bay leaf
1-2 T margarine or butter
3-1/2 c. sifted flour
2-1/2 t. baking powder
1 t. baking soda
1/2 c. chopped nuts
1/2 c. raisins
1/4 c. oil
1-1/3 c. honey
1 c. warm, strong coffee
1 t. cinnamon
1/2 t. ground cloves
1/4 t. ginger
1 c. sugar
