SHOPPING LIST FOR BULGARIA RECIPES

Meat:
1 whole chicken or 3-4 lbs. chicken pieces

Dairy:
1/3 lb. feta cheese (preferably Bulgarian)

Produce:
6 large tomatoes
1 cucumber (seedless if available)
1 red onion
4 large white onions
1 green bell pepper (optional)
1 red bell pepper (optional)
2 medium carrots (or 8 baby carrots)
6 sprigs of English parsley
1 head of garlic
1⁄2 banana squash or pumpkin, enough to make 8 c. grated squash

Grains:
1 loaf Italian-style peasant bread (preferably not sourdough)

Miscellaneous:
5 bay leaves
10 whole allspice berries
1 package of phyllo dough
1 c. crushed walnuts
4 T flour
1 c. vegetable oil
2 c. sugar
1 T paprika
1-1/2 T cinnamon
salt
pepper

Beverages:
2 bottles of white wine
